Established in 1994, Pontenossa S.p.A. supports the major steel manufacturers in Northern Italy in the collection and valorization of steel mill dust. Based in the Seriana Valley (BG), the Company is committed to constantly reducing the impact of its production and becoming a cultural, technological, and sustainability benchmark for neighboring towns and the entire Mountain Community.
Still mill dust
01Pontenossa collects and recovers residues from steelworks, providing a public utility service. Its strategic location makes it possible to optimize costs and reduce the risks associated with logistics.
Waelz plant
02The Waelz plant is classified as BAT (Best Available Technique) in the non-ferrous metals sector for the recovery of steel mill dust. It is a complex facility, enabling the extraction of zinc in the form of Waelz oxide and representing a fundamental step within the steelmaking supply chain.
Management of the production residue storage site
03For over thirty years, Pontenossa has carefully managed and monitored the Val Rogno landfill: about 105,000 m² located near the production plant in the Seriana Valley.
Secondary raw material
04The Waelz oxide produced by the steel dust treatment plant can be used to enrich zinc concentrates, thus reintroduced in the production cycle as a secondary raw material with multiple applications across different industries. Moreover, Pontenossa S.p.A. invests in research and development to find alternative and circular uses also for its production residues.

Since 1994, Pontenossa has invested significant financial and design resources in research and development to improve the present and rethink the future of its production activities.
Digitization of processes, sourcing from sustainable energy, and an in-house laboratory with specialized technicians and equipment capable of supporting applied and process research through accurate chemical-physical analyses.
